all right so that's enough about me now we're jumping in and i would like to
know from you guys where would you like to teach where are you interested in teaching
uh in the world or online or would you like to teach online but move to a
different country like what are you interested in let me know i'm super curious and yeah i am
here right now i am based here in south korea it is 10 a.m friday morning and it's a
little gray outside it's a little sad but i think it's going to clear up in the
afternoon i'm super excited and the weekend is supposed to be really nice um and i have plans to go to seoul
i live about an hour and a half south of seoul and this weekend i want to go to seoul
to uh you know hang out with some friends and yeah what about you guys where would
you like to teach let me know don't be shy let's start a conversation here
i know that some of you are also interested in teaching english in south korea
some of you are interested in china and i think also people are interested
in europe we did a live session about europe last week i think it was last week
or the week before don't remember exactly but uh europe was very popular too you had a
lot of great questions about europe's that was really really fun to do we also did a live before about
teaching english in asia which was really fun hi brad hey
and i got a question from clintus clint is asked how is dating there
well i wouldn't really know i'm married to a korean man um don't do any dating anymore so i'm
not sure i've actually met him before i moved to korea so i never really did any dating
in korea but um if you want to talk about what it's like being married to a korean
man or other things like that you can hit me up on instagram on my personal account and
we can have a chat about that yep so nobody has told me where they
want to teach yet don't be shy you can also i mean it doesn't have to be one location you can
say like oh i want to teach here or there or there i haven't decided yet i always teach online
whatever it is let me know let me know i'm not moving on until
somebody tells me so and i know there's a there's a bit of a lack or a delay between me and you
seeing it on facebook and youtube for um i guess security reasons um but i'm waiting
i have my coffee here it's cold by now but it's okay all right finally some answers so
mahmoud says australia awesome yes i have never been to
australia i really want to go so i'm with you let's go to australia together that sounds awesome
gwen says i'd like to teach in thailand or vietnam oh
love that yes i would like that too actually that's great love those countries
okay all right brett is asking what is the public transportation like
there is it super cost effective that's a great question so i guess you
mean in south korea i mean yeah it is super convenient um
my city doesn't have a subway most bigger cities do but mine does not
so in my city you have to just take uh buses but um that's why i got a car
and i like driving especially my city but i would never like go and drive in seoul for example because
traffic is just crazy they have like 10 lanes and then uh it's it's wild so i wouldn't drive in
seoul and yeah seoul does obviously have a subway they have like high-speed trains and those connects you
know to all over the country um and yeah i think it's really great so
yeah i would say it is cost-effective yes
great then gwen says i'm open to other places too but i'd like to stay within southeast asia at the moment
great yeah southeast asia is awesome and i am going to talk about that as well
so let's jump in we got some good stuff here oh okay brett still has an answer
still tied between europe and south korea cool okay so maybe this uh live session today will help you make
a decision based on the salary and how much money you can make in either place
so yeah let's see all right before we jump in things to consider when evaluating
potential salaries because um there are a few things you need to consider as you can see five so for
example most importantly what you need to consider when talking about tefl salaries
is the local cost of living all right so for example a thousand dollars in france and a thousand dollars in
thailand is gonna get you is different right so a thousand dollars in thailand is
going to get you more far than a thousand dollars in france for example so the local cost of living is
something that you need to consider when talking about tefl salaries
also the benefits included in the contract for example
so a lot of countries and schools they offer additional benefits so you would have your base salary but then you also
need to consider all the other benefits that you have so sometimes you get free housing so
that's a huge thing because in a lot of places housing makes up like almost half of your salary potentially
that you need to pay for housing but if you choose a destination a location that offers free
housing then obviously you actually have more from your tefl salary right also another thing you need to
consider personal lifestyle so what does that mean you know your own personal lifestyle um do you like eating
out a lot do you like traveling a lot you know so maybe then you need to choose a destination where you can
earn more versus if you're just happy with being uh you know more frugal cooking at home
a lot uh you know buying at local markets eating local food because typically local food is cheaper
versus buying foreign food or western food in foreign places for example those are
going to be more expensive um so things like that you know
or do you like to shop a lot you know your personal lifestyle you need to also take that into
consideration take that into account okay then we have also your personal
skill set and your background right so the more experience the more like certifications you have
then your salary is also going to be higher right exactly so that's something to consider
and then i'm also actually going to talk about that's the one thing i also got to talk about how you can earn more money what you can
do to increase your salary and that is one of the things that i'm going to mention you know you can
polish uh your professional resume you can add certifications and skills
to your uh skill set so those are things that are going to increase your salary
and then also the type of school or the employer because some teachers don't actually work for
school they might work for a company teaching business english for example things like that so it might not be a
school um or you know university so typically um teachers either teach at public
schools private schools international schools universities so these types of things especially
international schools and universities tend to pay higher salaries so that's also something to consider
okay all right and then we have another one from juliana who says i would like to teach english online but
i'm also interested in japan and south korea awesome yeah i'm going to talk about
those countries as well today all right and then gwen's question
let's see this isn't exactly about today's topic but do you have any insight about non-tefl teaching
qualifications as a requirement to work in certain places
okay like for example
so we actually talked about this in a live session before i think it was the thing about teaching in 2021
things you need to know um so what uh what some countries have done and i know
china has done it they require sort of an additional paper and i think
it was called the pnc letter because they do not allow
people to come in like tourists they suspended all tourist visas and stuff so
they require this additional paperwork which is sort of like i believe it's like an invitation letter
um because of the pandemic and also obviously a lot of countries are doing
um you know either you could prove that you have been vaccinated fully vaccinated
or um a negative test things like that are additional things
that have come about now these days um other qualifications might be if
you are a non-native english speaker then they might want to see english proficiency certifications we
also talked a little bit about that last time i think so um and my co-worker lisa she knows a
lot about that she's getting a um cambridge certificate um she's getting ready for that so those
are things for example that might be non-tefl teaching related qualifications
that they require now but other than that um it depends like
some also depending on i think we talked about the teaching english in europe so where it was france if you wanted to
go with the tape if program you need to have french language skills so then you would have
to submit french proficiency certifications things like that but those are very specific so it's going to
depend on you know what kind of program or employer you apply for
right okay
allah says i follow you and all your platforms really magnificent great thank you that's awesome
all right nikki says is the borders in thailand or in other asian countries open already i
think i heard thailand is open to vaccinated people
that's what i have heard but i think you still need to quarantine i'm not sure uh don't quote me on that but i think
thailand is opening up actually um and yeah vaccinated people i think can travel to thailand
um but i actually looked into that the other day because i was like okay what places in asia could i travel to
and it's not much especially because i'm not vaccinated yet
um so it's not many options at the moment oh without corn i was looking for
without quarantine um so and i think the only one was like
dubai at the moment but yeah we need to keep up to date
so um check official resources i'm not 100 up to date on that information i'm just
saying all right now let's jump into the first region that we're going to talk about
in terms of salaries so first up we have how much can you earn teaching english
in south east asia and i always put as you can see the cost of living also in the first place because that's
something that's very important as we just said to um consider when it comes to
tefl salaries so southeast asia that is this region so countries like thailand vietnam
uh cambodia laos malaysia uh even though like singapore is very
expensive so certain countries not all of them uh but yes so
typically the southeast asian region the cost of living there is very very
low uh compared to you know back home for example and salaries are typically up to 1
500 there are some instances where you can make more this and the salaries i have to say are
typically for first time teachers with little to none no experience so keep that in mind
um obviously the different countries also have different salaries and i have a paper in front of me where i wrote
down some salaries for specific countries and i can let you know but that's what the range looks like
and extra benefits so like paid housing paid airfare things like that do not really exist in
southeast asia it's not that common but some employers do offer that so it's going to depend on you know the
school that you apply for and then will work for but it's not really the norm okay so some countries specifically i
have three that i can mention so thailand the range is about eight hundred to one thousand
dollars a month vietnam one thousand two hundred to two thousand
so two thousand is on the upper uh upper range so that's for people who have more experience
and maybe higher qualifications and things like that and then we have cambodia with 1 000 to
1 200 us dollars round about that so that sounds like not much
obviously but you need to consider again the cost of living is very low okay so a thousand dollars is gonna get
you more far um in southeast asia than east asia for
example which we're gonna talk about right after this um because there is a big difference that's why i split up asia into two
parts because southeast asia and east asia is very different in terms of salaries
cost of living and benefits so okay thanks gwen so for international
schools in malaysia i've seen salaries range from 1 500 to about 2
500 and other benefits vary a lot yeah so like i said in the beginning especially
international schools they always tend to pay higher salaries but they're also not that many right and
they're really hard to get into or harder to get into so you actually would have to have
usually a bachelor's or even a master's in english or in the subject that you're
going to teach um you also need to have some experience and things like that so the salaries
that i mention are for just regular people with like a bachelor's degree or not even a degree no experience just
fresh off the boat basically coming and that's the salary that they get
but yeah so you know with salaries it's always a little bit hard they obviously vary a lot from school to
school country to country place to place so yeah yeah right they're quite competitive to get into
yeah and usually that's also something i talked about before uh you would need like to build your
network i mean some people are lucky obviously and if the qualifications are right they can get in
but um typically i think i said that before especially your first year of
teaching english abroad you want to use as sort of like a time for making connections and building
a network and that kind of also happens naturally you don't really need to go out of your way and attend like
conferences or meetups or something that's great too obviously but like it's going to happen naturally because you're
going to meet other teachers and they know other teachers and they know other schools and employers
and somehow you're going to meet people that you know people are always leaving too right they go home or they go to a different
country new positions are filling up so i mean that happened to me a lot where people are like oh my my school is
looking for a new teacher are you interested or even like university i was offered university jobs
before like hey um i'm leaving and you know you seem
great you would be great for this uh would you like to teach at the university and um
so it's that's uh you know how it typically works and that's a thing with international
schools i think that you would have to build your network and then you can probably get into an international
schools after a couple of years but yeah that's just my opinion that's
usually what i've seen and how it works but yeah okay southeast asia uh
now let's take a look at east asia so um very different so the cost of living
oh and those are countries like japan south korea china and taiwan
even though taiwan is quite south it is considered east asia most of the time so those countries
right here um the cost of living moderate to high in most places especially japan is the
highest in that area and salaries are from 2000 to 2500 for new teachers
generally and up to 3 000 or more for those with experience and we're going to look at that more in detail
in a bit where you can make the highest salaries and this region is great for all those
extra perks and benefits so you get paid housing paid airfare
health insurance and most of the time also end of contract bonuses in south korea you also have the pension
you pay into the national pension scheme and when you leave you get all that money back which is usually depending on how long
you have stayed but at least a couple of thousand dollars that you can just get back which is great for when you're moving to
another place or you're moving back home and you have this sort of starting start capital right so
that's great so that's why east asia is such a popular region because the salaries are quite
high um and the benefits are so great so most of the time you don't have
to worry about rent housing that's taken care of by the employer also
airfare and things like that insurance healthcare is great
at least in korea it is i also know other countries in east asia are pretty similar it's cheap so you don't
really have a lot of big expenses people are able to save a lot from their salary
um and i have some things written down here for salaries in specific countries so for
example in china you can make between one thousand and two thousand five hundred dollars
per month japan is even higher between two thousand two hundred and five thousand us dollars so if you have
that that 5000 is if you you know teach at um an international school for example
or you have a lot of experience but also the cost of living especially
in japan has increased dramatically and it's not the number one option in east asia anymore
because of that high cost of living taiwan we have between
2 and 2 500 and korea between 1 600 and 2
600 u.s dollars a month so we have a question here japan cost of
living is moderate salaries are high best ways of teaching well i would say it also depends on
where in japan you are so obviously if you're in tokyo um the cost of living is very very high
so people in tokyo are usually struggling and live in very very small apartments
and those caution arm in the leg so it's not that easy but if you live in
a different part of japan it's very different so yeah
definitely east asia is a great great place
south korea to south korea is this south korea and japan are considered the asian tigers booming
economies yeah totally absolutely so those countries are great for teachers um i highly recommend it
i've been in korea for a while you can make really good money here you can save a lot of your from your salary so it's definitely
worth coming here okay all right then moving on
next region we're gonna focus on is the middle east so how much can you earn
teaching english in the middle east here the cost of living also depends on where but typically
rather moderate and the salaries are between three thousand and five thousand dollars per month or even more
and that is tax free in a lot of countries so you don't pay any taxes on your
salary what you get is what you can keep and that's what makes the middle east the highest tefl
salaries worldwide so great place if you are after
money obviously not a region that's gonna suit everybody's
uh lifestyle and preferences um but it's a great place to um
come if you are looking to make a lot of money oh great you're egyptian awesome maybe
you could say a little bit about what it's like in egypt um i can imagine it's
different from you know places like the uae or saudi arabia um
but typically you'll also get extra benefits in the middle east like paid housing paid airfare health insurance and end of
country bonuses plus tax-free salaries which makes the middle east really
the best region in terms of tefl salaries in the world so
yeah gwen says please tell us about egypt and i even put egypt in the picture so
please please tell us about egypt
what are the typical tefl salaries in egypt i couldn't find that much
actually let me see
because the most popular regions or countries in the middle east are typically
united arab emirates saudi arabia we also have oman kuwait those countries are really
popular and i think egypt not so much at the right now
but let's see
yeah i'm not sure
yeah maybe you're talking about gulf area rich countries i know right
yeah but if you have some information about egypt and what the salaries are like there i don't know if you know
you know tefl teaching salaries but if you know that would be great if you could share that some people are interested
and brett says great linda and are you everything about the middle east i'm sorry i'm sorry
[Laughter] but that's a great thing you know with your tefl certificate you can go
anywhere you can go anywhere so keep your options open you can do a year here you're there
you're there you know okay i have another question let's work
can you please give the top three countries to teach english in south east asia sure so definitely vietnam
thailand um and then the third one so those are the two big ones i would say in southeast asia and
then you have um countries like cambodia and laos that are very emerging right now but you're
also not going to make that much money there but also the cost of living is very low so i would say those are like the top
four at the moment we've also had quite a lot of um job
offers and that was not this year that was maybe two years ago where um myanmar started having a lot of
job offers but maybe that's not a place where you want to be right now um but yeah
okay so we have an answer about egypt salaries are medium not low not high okay so that sounds
great that sounds great awesome perfect thank you so much for sharing that
okay so that's the middle east so i we have one person now interested in the middle east brett that's cool very very interesting
great i would also be super interested especially dubai i mean dubai looks like such a fun place i'd love to
live there too for like a year that'd be really fun and i mentioned that before i think
because um i did a live about the best places to teach english abroad i think in 2021
and yeah uae especially dubai was on there because oh i think i got the number wrong now
but like 80 percent or 70 i think it was pr quite high actually or 90. between 80 and 90 percent
i'm gonna say that of people living in dubai are expats that's so high like it's so
multi-quality there i love that that must be so cool so that would be a great place to be
okay all right i'm gonna take this question and then i'm gonna move on from this region so by the way did you see
the golden parade of the ancient egyptian pharaohs what do you think about it please
i did see that so i think you mean when they didn't they like transport the some mummies into a new museum
or a new place and they had a huge parade for it in egypt in cairo um i did see that and it looked
really really amazing and um now i really want to go back to egypt i have been to egypt only once and it
was probably close to 10 years ago i don't even remember
something like that maybe eight years ago nine years ago i don't know but it was amazing and i did go and see the
pyramids and now i really really really want to go again um yeah i did see that and i thought it
was amazing so good so next region we're going to talk about
is europe and i talked about europe last week or the week before i think was
the week before two weeks ago um a lot of people want to go to europe
which is great europe is amazing i was born and raised in europe love europe so much history all the
different countries different cultures it's great um but the cost of living
is very high very high especially in countries like you know france italy spain
germany switzerland um it's insanely high and the salaries are
quite low quite low or on the same level as east asia
okay but east asia doesn't have um a cost of living that high so you are
going and also as you can see here extra benefits not that many so you're not going to
have free housing you're not going to have paid airfare typically none of that okay
so that makes europe not that attractive for teaching english abroad i'm afraid um it is possible and a lot
of people do it but it's not a place that you want to go to if for example you want to make money
save money to pay off student loans back home or whatever you want to do that's not the place for that unfortunately
um salaries very broad range here but between 700 and 2400 a month so again it
depends on the country even the city where you are the type of school you are at
um so all of those things um i wrote down some countries and
salaries so typically when we talk about europe for what we always recommend
if people are interested in going to europe is the czech republic which is a great place to um
get a work visa even as a non-eu citizen because their laws aren't that strict as many other
countries and in the czech republic you can make between 700 and 1
200 us dollars a month um so prague
an amazing city a lot of people go there love it there very very nice then we have friends with
between one thousand and two thousand dollars a month italy eight hundred to one thousand and
spain seven hundred to one thousand eight hundred the good thing about um france and spain
is that they have government-funded teaching programs um that you can apply for
and um that's a great way to get in and also i also wanted to mention that
one but i didn't write the salary down now last time when we talked about teaching english in europe i mentioned
hungary and their teaching program and that is really great so hungary is
another place that you can look at if you're interested in europe also because eastern europe so czech
republic and hungary are in eastern europe and there the cost of living tends to be a little lower compared to
central or western europe so if you're interested in europe i would say
eastern europe is your better bet so yeah all right then we have a comment
here again the best european state is liechtenstein magnificent however it's
tiny greatest one in the world i actually have never been i've never been i want to go it looks
really pretty i've seen pictures um and it's not that far i think it even has a border to germany
where i've i'm from i was born and raised there so i'm really interested in i'm really
interested in exploring more of europe for sure um but i probably wouldn't teach there
personally me personally it seems like um very hard to do like
finance wise as you can see cost of living is so high salaries aren't that high so a little bit difficult but yeah
that's europe then i would like to move on to our next
uh region and who can guess what it is what's
left i think we've covered pretty much every region now all right latin america how much can you
earn teaching english in latin america again huge um region obviously
i did not find too many differences in terms of salary between central
and south america so i put them together in latin america um cost of living generally very low
which is great however the salaries are also very low so that's similar to europe um
maybe even a little bit better than europe but the salaries are really low uh in latin america so it's not a region
it's generally recommended to teachers who are looking for you know high salaries
but um definitely obviously a beautiful region and um so much you can see and do
there so that's why you need to consider you know what is your goal what what is your focus are you looking
for um you know amazing landscapes
and travel experiences or cultural experiences what's more important to you
you need to just weigh that out for yourself um salaries range between 500 and 1200 or a little
bit no not a little bit more it's actually yeah that's the higher range also what i've written down for the
specific countries and also extra benefits not that many you're not gonna get free airfare free housing
pretty much in this region um also there are a lot of just volunteer
positions you can find in latin america argentina salaries range between 600 and
1200 us dollars a month ecuador 500 to 1000
chile 800 to 1200 and costa rica 600 to 1 000.
um so i need to consider you do need to pay for your own apartment housing
probably even health insurance you need to figure that out by yourself so it's a bit of a tough
region financial finance wise
but yeah obviously very beautiful area good okay there's one more left
that we're gonna talk about and actually i do not mention africa in this um presentation
um because it's just too tough um in terms of teaching english i think
it's worse than latin america even if i can say that but um typically for africa
you you find a lot of volunteering positions so not so much paid and um
yeah that's just how it is at the moment so that's why i haven't included it there
because it's also not a region where you typically want to go if you want to earn a lot of money
it's a region where you go for other reasons you know for um volunteering and
things like that so yeah okay so then oh it's a little small can
you see that um how much can you earn teaching english online obviously 2020 21 uh 2021 the boom
for uh online teaching is continuing and um
so yeah that's how it is many many different platforms
i have listed here so we can get overview because it's very hard to say oh you can make this much for teaching english online
um you know all right let me look at this comment
from marcia before we move on so she says unfortunately here in chile the cost of living is too high okay interesting
so the cost of living is rising um yeah and then the salaries probably stay
really low so it's it's tough isn't it yeah i can see that okay
great so back to online teaching i know a lot of you are maybe interested in online teaching
so i have listed a couple of the most popular english teaching platforms and you can see that salary range
i have personally worked at a cafe talk that last one right here in the list
it's a cafe talk and i know my co-worker lisa she has a live had a live session with one of her
friends who's working at prepley or for prepley so um you can check that out
and um yeah so it what usually what the differences are is
either um i think places like vipkid um you basically
um work obviously for vipkid and they give you all the teaching
materials they tell you exactly what you need to teach so um which is very different from for
example i work for cafe talk where you can basically create your own lessons it's sort of
more like a marketplace where you put your profile you put what you want to offer
you can set your own price and then students can book your lessons or not
uh versus magic magic ears vipkid i also think you kids
places like that have their set curriculum you you don't have any say in what you
teach you just teach what they give you what they tell you to teach and they have their set pricing so
it depends on you know um what you're looking for in terms of teaching and then there's
obviously also the option of setting up your own teaching website
or website where you advertise yourself as you're teaching as a teacher and your teaching services
because with all of these platforms um they are going to take a fee or a cut
from your salary right all of these and that also depends you know from
platform to platform and my co-worker lisa she did a live session about the individual platforms and she goes
more into detail in each of those so if you're interested in teaching english online
for platforms or on your own check that live session out it's in our
playlist um and you can find out more details about that
okay but that's typically what it looks like
okay moving on now where are the highest salaries for
teaching english abroad i put up a list 10 places
with the highest salaries also considering cost of living sorta so number one coming in number one
united arab emirates with 3500 to 5500 a month and again that is
tax free which is amazing so those are the highest salaries in the
world united arab emirates number two japan 2 200 to 5 000 a month however the cost
of living in japan is really high at the moment especially in tokyo so it's sort of on the decline with
japan it's not as popular as it used to be number three we have saudi arabia three
thousand to four thousand dollars a month and i believe that is also tax free which is great then we have
kuwait also in the middle east with two thousand two thousand six hundred to
four thousand us dollars a month same with oman in the middle east 2 000 to 3
500 us dollars a month and i'm not sure if kuwait and oman also do tax free salaries um i think they
might i'm not quite sure about that but still very very high salaries among the highest in the world then we
have taiwan 2 000 to 3 000 a month and the cost of living in taiwan
is the lowest i would say well besides maybe china um in east asia definitely lower than
korea and japan so and the salaries are a little higher even which is great
then we have 7th coming in south korea 1600 to 2650 a month
and you get all those extra benefits in korea which makes that so great then china right after 1
400 to 2 200 a month and then hong kong three thousand to six thousand
five hundred a month now you're wondering wow those salaries are so high why is it number nine
that's because also the cost of living in hong kong is so high and it's actually the most expensive
city in the world 2020 at the moment um they came up with this new um
study i believe so at the end of 2020 hong kong is the most expensive city in
the world as of now that's why even though the salaries are really high the cost of living is
very high so that's why it's in ninth position it's still great though to teach there i've known some people
who taught in hong kong it was great they also got free housing i believe um
pretty good contracts with bonuses and benefits so hong kong is pretty great and then coming in tenth teaching
english online so if you do it right if you want to work full time and you know you work your six seven
eight hours a day teaching teaching teaching teaching online you can actually make a really
high salary um so that's why i've put teaching online in 10th position
so what do you think about that now after all this information which place are you
more gravitating towards brett and other people
notice questions for everybody
for everybody all right let's see
[Music] all right i'm just gonna give you a
moment because again there is a delay um so i don't want to jump too fast to the next place
and bread says so much to think over now yeah but you know
don't think too much you also need to just go with your gut you know go with your gut and just
pick a place i mean if you choose one place it doesn't mean you're married to the place you you are you need to stay in the
place forever um if you really don't like it you can just leave and that's the great thing about
teaching abroad and tefl right if you don't like it you can just leave
gwen same i grew with brett i suddenly need to reconsider
also i want to say it's not all about the money right it's not all about the money
um actually funny story it's not all about the money my first year in korea i was teaching at a
private school a private like kindergarten and i picked that place over
other job offers i had because it had the highest salaries or the highest salary but the working
hours were also longer and it was just really hell working there
honestly uh it was not nice it was not great um so
don't only look at the salary and the money it's my advice it's not all about the
money i wish i would have chosen a different school made like two or three hundred bucks less and worked at a better school
so not all about the money okay let's talk i hope i'm pronouncing
this right um true but teaching online is a great option now yes especially now teaching online
is great and also think about that you start teaching english online now
once uh we're back to normal in the world you then already have teaching experience you might even have some
money saved up so you are ready you are in a great position to then move abroad to the country of your dreams and you're
likely gonna start at a higher salary because you already have experience so this is actually a really smart move
teaching online at the moment especially if you teach for a very well-known platform um
you know that is going to really boost your resume certainly doesn't hurt and might get you a higher salary
abroad so good
oh i forgot about this point we still have this point to cover so how to enhance your teaching salary
what can you do to make more money though so obviously if you aren't teflor t-cell certified
get teflor t-cell certified there are a lot of countries that do not require teachers to be teflor t-cell certified
however if you are teflor t-cell certified you do get higher salaries typically
um then if you are already certified you can get into specialized teflon tesol
certifications so like what we offer the 50-hour teaching english to children young learners or teaching
business english or teaching english online you can get those certifications you can
also get the t-cell diploma so the more you have the more you can
show the higher your salaries are going to be you can also get some teaching experience before you
leave what we just talked about either online or in your home
community any sort of teaching experience is great you can do local summer camps
um teaching online even if it's just tutoring in your community those are all great things that are
going to boost your resume and give you higher salary and then what a lot of people also do
especially teaching in those regions like europe and latin america where the salaries aren't that
high they take on private students to supplement their income right so you have your main job your
main teaching job but then like in your free time you find two or three other students
that you can tutor privately and that's really great because you make your own price
and typically you know per hour for private tutoring you can really earn a lot of money
i actually know someone or i don't i know this i don't know this person personally but a friend of a friend of a friend
kind of thing um lives in south korea married to a korean woman so he has his
visa freedom um and he is only tutoring private students
only doing private tutoring and he makes like seven thousand dollars a month with only private tutoring because with
private tutoring you have your hourly rate really high compared to just a base monthly salary
so he makes a lot of money so this is also something you can do obviously for most people they can't
do it full-time because it's tied to your visa you can't do that thing like that but um certainly on the side
something you can do and then you can make a lot of extra money on the side so those are my uh top things
on how you can enhance your teaching salary um i hope you find that useful you were able to take something home
with you um and also look at gwen gwen says i'm currently working on the young learner
certificate it's such a great way to begin learning some pedagogy yeah for children
right good i also took that course yeah it's great i also took the business
english course i also took the um teaching english online course they're all really really great they are going
to boost your resume so i recommend it thanks for your input awesome
all right then this is the end so now again i'm going to mention the 30
off discount link you can scan the qr code or i'm going to share um the discounted
link again in the comment section so you can just copy that
and get your thirty percent off and then i'm gonna take a few more minutes here to answer your questions and then i'm
gonna sign off how does that sound so this is what the link looks like
if you click on that you get 30 off all right awesome
okay great i think this was a great session today i hope you learned something
um we had a great chat i love seeing all the familiar faces
i love seeing that you come back every week it's so nice to see that you know building our little
community so that was really really nice
uh gwen says thank you so much for everything today linda i love always always a delight to be here okay
i'm so bummed i'm not always free when you go live anymore oh that's okay i love when you're here and
when we're chatting and you can always watch the replays um they stay on the site forever
so oh yes brett is the young learner certificate one of the online courses
yes let me share a link to that with you
let's see so if you are not yeah you were doing
the in class course in rome right
good okay here this is it
and i'm going to add the discount code at the end of that url so when you click on it you're also
going to get the discount it's just going to take a minute
so here you go this is it looks like this specialized
courses teaching english to young learners and then the discounted part
so that's that course um also online um but we do recommend you know you
finish your standard general tefl course first before you take that one
because they sort of build on each other but after maybe you're done in rome you can
do that one [Music] so yeah i highly recommend it especially
if you're looking into going to asia because most of the time when you go to asia you're
going to be teaching young learners and again that term young learners is also very broad it ranges from like
literally toddlers to university students or high school students so um it's very
broad but that course really teaches you a lot how to deal with children problem children um and yeah
how to motivate them and how to you know do all that how to teach them
effectively awesome juliana thank you so much for tuning in again today also brett
thanks so much for tuning in margaret hi margaret nice to see you again thanks
margaret
okay brett says i also have my multiple subject teaching credential yeah then maybe you can go ahead and take that
course now if you already know sort of the basics of teaching and that would definitely be great
um cool gwen also says yes my youngest student is three we start very young
here yeah in china too i had a kid i think the youngest was three and it's really challenging it's really
really hard teaching kids that young because obviously they're not gonna just sit on the table
and listen to what you say right it's really hard um i might do a live about teaching
young learners in the future because it's really different from teaching adults so that might be really useful
for people here marcia thanks for everything thanks for your input too
about chile thanks so much marcia let turk thank you so much thanks for
tuning in as well nice to see you again all right then if we don't have any other questions
we can stop right here we can sign off um go on with our day
as always you can watch the replays please don't forget to like and subscribe
as i always say so you don't miss any of our other upcoming sessions
take advantage of the 30 off it's a really great deal we only share that 30 percent off during our
live sessions and nowhere else all other like campaigns and events don't get
that big of a discount so you want to take advantage of that don't miss out all right
yeah it is more like babysitting sometimes that's true
awesome okay then thank you so much guys and i have a new end screen
after i sign off for when we share the video then on youtube it's gonna make it easier to add all these extra things at
the end so don't be scared there might be some loud music i don't know if it's that
loud or what but um just to warn you i don't know how it's gonna come out
um we'll see you can let me know later if um it's too loud or whatever and i
can adjust it but just to let you know again thanks so much for tuning in today
and um yeah i hope to see you again next week with another live session i'm
gonna think about a topic um i might do another one what i did
teaching english in asia in europe i might cover latin america not sure yet um we're also
looking into having some guests on from different places so i think that might be really interesting
and yeah we'll see what we'll come up with and i hope to see you again thanks so much for tuning in
