The Importance of Evaluation and Testing in an Educational System - TEFL Blog
Mark Crocker
Alumni Experiences Teaching Ideas
Although evaluation and testing are considered to be a 'necessary evil' by some teachers and students, it is quite absurd to call them so. Evaluation and testing should never be seen as 'evil', although they are certainly 'necessary' within a properly functioning educational system. It can be argued that no serious study is possible without evaluation and testing as they are surely the best way of judging the capabilities and progress of a student, and a serious motivation for reaching new goals.

Register now & get certified to teach english abroad!
Older and elder are two similar sounding words that can sometimes be used incorrectly by both native and non-native English speakers. Let’s take a look at how they should be used correctly.
When teaching the English language you often come across words that sound and look similar. Sometimes these words can be used interchangeably to mean the same thing and sometimes they cannot. In this example older and elder can sometimes be used to say the same thing, but they have to be used differently.
The adjective old has a base form, a comparative form, and a superlative form: OLD, OLDER, and OLDEST.
Examples of the three forms:
These can all be used when talking about things and also people. For example:

Teaching Ideas
Standing in front of a class, a teacher procrastinates by asking each student random questions and scribbling on the board, but something is wrong. The students seem restless and the teacher looks uncomfortable. The teacher then springs into action by quickly shuffling through a stack of papers on their desk while the students look around blankly at one another. Their attention is dwindling.

Rapport With Students From Day 1 - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Establishing rapport with students can be challenging sometimes, especially if this is a class of students who've already had different teachers or the students change around a lot. When there is inconsistency in teaching style or people, it can be more difficult for students to create a more meaningful bond. One of the key things I've always found in establishing rapport is to be friendly, positive, kind, consistent and understanding. There are different ways a teacher can show this. The way s/he introduces her/himself and shows interest in students initially, the level of professionalism displayed, the teacher's attitude towards students, the reward system put in place and the expectations set among many others. I have broken these down individually... [Read more]
