Founded in 1951, Amideast is a leading American non-profit organization engaged in international education, training, and development activities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). With permanent offices in 11 countries throughout the MENA region, Amideast’s field office infrastructure, program management systems, and seasoned professional staff enable the rapid, start-up of new programs and their effective delivery. Amideast Morocco maintains six key areas of activity: English language instruction, testing, soft skills training and job placement, scholarship and exchange programs administration, educational advising, teacher training and technical assistance. English Language Training Amideast is a regional leader in English language training delivery. Our courses are taught by professional teachers, using a communicative approach that emphasizes practical, everyday English for school, work, or leisure. Amideast Morocco has maintained a high-quality English language teaching program for more than a quarter century and enrolls thousands of students each year. Amideast provides general English, test preparation and English for Special Purposes, typically in 30-hour public and private sessions at all proficiency levels. Our courses attract young learners, professionals and other adults, and university students. These programs are delivered primarily in Rabat and Casablanca. Our network of corporate clients includes over 150 companies, international organizations, and private universities. Project Context Amideast/Morocco is looking for online English language teachers to join our highly motivated global team of instructors. Responsibilities include preparing for lessons, delivering synchronous lessons via Amideast’s online system, engaging with students asynchronously, tracking students' performance and attendance, and providing students with motivating and useful feedback. Our online lessons are delivered Mondays to Fridays between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM Morocco time (GMT+1), and on Saturdays between 9 AM to 12 PM Morocco time (GMT+1). Groups meet synchronously one time per week for 1.5 hours and complete asynchronous activities between class meetings. Please apply only if available to deliver synchronous lessons during the time periods listed, between October 21 and December 20, 2024, and February 15 and May 17, 2025. Throughout each semester, teachers will: Prepare and deliver synchronous lessons to improve students' four skills, with a particular emphasis on improved oral communication. Tailor synchronous lesson delivery and ways to engage students in accordance with their experience and needs. Manage interpersonal class dynamics to ensure an inclusive and productive learning environment. Respond to asynchronous student work to encourage participation and learning. Track student attendance and grades on a weekly basis. Learn and use our online learning management system and synchronous lesson software, with support from our team. Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in English language teaching or education with an English language teaching specialization (or equivalent). A TESOL Certificate (PCELT, CELTA, SIT TESOL Cert or equivalent) that includes trainer-assessed practice teaching. Demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency of CEFR C1. Minimum two years of experience as an English teacher, preferably with university and adult learners from beginning to advanced levels. Experience teaching online. Own a computer equipped with an HD webcam, and have fast and stable internet connection. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Organized and attentive to students' needs. Attention to entering attendance and grades on time every week. Payment Teachers will be paid up to $21 an hour relative to experience and credentials and based on submission of a monthly timesheet. Individuals contracted in Morocco will be paid in local currency. Individuals contracted outside Morocco will be paid in US dollars through a wire transfer. Amideast Online is a customized Moodle-based, Learning Management System (LMS) developed by Amideast to deliver virtual training courses to participants in the MENA region. Amideast Online is a unique platform where program participants can attend virtual classes, complete and submit assignments, communicate with the instructor and classmates, use a wide variety of resources relevant to their training and receive teacher feedback. The LMS also keeps grades and attendance, delivers student assignments and quizzes, houses tailored, supplementary content and issues reports and certificates. It also features virtual classrooms on a multi-server platform using the BigBlueButton (BBB); an open-sourced real-time audio and video screen fully optimized for delivering online, distance training including public/private chat, and an interactive whiteboard.
