Hollywood Community Housing Corp. is a non-profit agency that builds affordable housing and provides supportive services for low-income families, seniors and persons living with HIV/AIDS. We are looking for an experienced, qualified ESL instructor to teach classes on site to residents of various buildings in the Hollywood area. This lesson has taught me the importance of writing and speaking skills and the particular areas in which typical students make mistakes or errors. This has prepared me for my own classes in that I will be able to better form my lesson plans and to know exactly what things I need to spend more time on in the classroom. This lesson has also identified the common weak areas of typical TEFL classes regarding speaking and writing skills.This Unit covers the topic of receptive skills - listening and reading. Both of them are equally important and need to be implemented in teaching a new language. It also covers the problems with reading and listening, which topics to use, how to create interest in students and which tasks to use to make it an effective lesson. The material provides an example lesson structure and example exercises to us for teaching receptive skills.
