Description: The English Immersion Program is a ten-month long educational program which uses intensive English language instruction to equip 20 young, motivated students from across the Thai-Burma border with skills and abilities to effectuate positive community development. The school is located in a refugee camp where students participate in community service, development projects and internships in addition to creative, high energy classroom instruction. Graduates from previous years are currently working as journalists, researchers, teacher trainers, teachers, office assistants. It is a challenging but immensely rewarding position for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced teacher.
Responsibilities: „X Teaching intermediate to advanced English to 20 refugees from Burma 18-24 hours per week „X Actively involving students in the learning process „X Finding, developing and documenting new curriculum materials „X Living in the student dorm at least three nights a week „X Communicating with the In-camp, and Out-of-camp Coordinators as well as the other teacher and the Team Leader „X Giving final exams and writing report cards each trimester „X Meeting with students as required and at least once a trimester „X Helping recruit new students and new teachers at the end of the year „X Documenting curriculum used in a curriculum map „X Participating in ongoing professional development including observation and feedback sessions to improve teaching.
