English Language Support Teacher - Starting as soon as possible.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an imaginative , flexible and resourceful teacher who has experience in providing in class and small group support for English Language Learners (ELL) in Upper Primary and Lower Secondary.
As part of our commitment to providing complete access to our mainstream curriculum for learners of English , we have set up intensive language programmes for students with developing English language skills. The support teacher will work in conjunction with the English support coordinator in order to support students transitioning to mainstream classes.
The successful candidate will meet with teachers on a regular basis in order to prepare materials that will support their students' learning and by pre teaching vocabulary and content for specialist subjects in addition to assisting them in class.
The position requires a thorough understanding of the process of language acquisition for the age groups mentioned above. As a Values-based Education (VbE) school , all teachers are expected to model our chosen values in their day to day interactions. The successful candidate will be organised, patient and resilient.
Minimum requirements:
- An Undergraduate Degree
- TEFL/TESOL certificate preferred
- At least 3 years’ experience teaching in the primary and/or lower secondary school years
- Internationally recognised teaching qualification in English language support. Qualified teacher status preferred (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent international teaching licence.)
- Native English speaker.
