Keerapat International School (KPIS) is a leading international school based in Thailand, offering an exceptional education to students from around the world. We are committed to providing our students with a challenging and stimulating learning environment that encourages them to reach their full potential.

Job Description

At KPIS, for Grades 1-5, there is a homeroom teacher and an EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher at every grade level. Both the homeroom and EAL teachers are responsible for all students in the classroom. The EAL teacher will plan and work closely with homeroom teachers and divisional principals to meet the needs of students who need extra language support. The EAL teacher will coordinate with the parents to give instructions, recommendations and consistency monitoring and report the progress of the students. This program follows the hybrid model (Push in and Pull out). The goal is to develop students with no English or very low levels of English proficiency to a point at which they feel secure and are able to function in their regular classrooms with minimum assistance.

The EAL teacher uses the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to teach grade-level content. Additionally, the EAL teacher uses the California ELD Standards to provide English learner students with a high-quality program that will enable them to attain proficiency in English - developing the skills and confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing that is at the core of achievement inside and outside of the classroom. The California ELD standards correspond to the rigours of CCSS and define the progression of language acquisition through three stages of proficiency and recognize that the student’s native language plays an important role in Learning English.
