Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Unit 13 had content that I have never studied before in my 16 years of education. I don't think I will spend too many lessons on phonology or pronunciation, but rather include it indirectly in each of my lessons with fun activities like tongue twisters and repetition drills. I would like my students to develop the pronunciation more naturally, but this unit was useful just in case students as more specifics on phonology. At the beginning of this lesson, the one thing I struggled with was understanding what was meant by the language function but thankfully feel like I get it now. An example would be saying “I would like a cup of coffee please.” Using the conditional present form instead of saying “I want a cup of coffee, please.” While both are technically polite the conditional present form is softer and more polite.
