Your mission:
As an ESL (English as a second language) Editor, you will be responsible for the design and programming of our ESL product as an expert with an in-depth knowledge of the English language and the teaching of English as a second language.
Your daily work at Fiction Express:
Text adaptation: adapting the vocabulary, grammar, syntax, etc. of the books, by native authors, to the different ESL levels.
Design and coordination of contents: create and think up educational activities and contents, linked to the books, according to the different levels.
Editorial planning: you will develop the didactic programming of the topics, contents and educational objectives according to the levels and needs of the curriculum.
You will work in collaboration with the rest of the publishing team to ensure the coherence and quality of the materials.
Researching and keeping up to date with best practice in teaching English as a second language and integrating it into the development of materials.
Manage the briefing and process of book covers with the design team.
Planning by objectives: you will be working on publication cycles, so flexibility is essential.
What we expect from you?
Excellent command of written and spoken English (C2 or equivalent).
High level of written and spoken Spanish (minimum C1)
Certification in teaching English as a second language (CELTA / DELTA, TEFL, TESOL or equivalent).
Experience as a teacher of English as a second language for upper primary and secondary school would be an asset.
Experience creating and adapting content in textbook publishing for teaching English as a second language.
Text editing and proofreading.
In-depth knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and approaches.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Hiring process:
Meet the People & Culture Team: 30-45 minutes of conversation where you can learn more about Fiction Express, your role, and what you can expect from your experience here. We'll have the opportunity to learn more about your background and assess how well it aligns with our values and culture.
Meet Your Manager: 45-60 minutes interview with the Head of publishing. You can discuss your role, and the manager will evaluate your skills.
Technical Test (offline): We will send you a case related to your role. This is focused on the hard skills and the knowledge needed to perform in the role.
Meet our team: 30 minutes of conversation with someone from our team. You will have the opportunity to meet other people from Fiction. We will be able to learn more about how you align with our culture and values.
