When teaching modal verbs, I will make sure to use activities like role-playing. Modal verbs apply to both the past, present and future tense. Each word comes along with a different degree of certainty, formality, and obligation. A common mistake students make when learning about active and passive voice is that they use the wrong tense of the verb. Prior to teaching this lesson, the students must understand the verb tenses. In this lesson, I've learnt how to teach new vocabulary and new sentence structures as well as the major three basic lesson plans, typical ESA, boomerang and patchwork. In each stage, we should use appropriate techniques and different activities. For instance, in engage, we can use pictures, real object, mime, etc, In study stage, we can use sentence unscrambling. In activate, we may try role-play, discussion and debate, etc.
