Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit provided me with an overview of the general ideas in teaching for ESL students, and it recapped my experiences as a non-native speaker. I was an ESL student many years ago, and I realized the teachers I liked displayed many of these characteristics. Since I have learned that the relationship between teachers and students can be very complex, I am looking forward learning some theories, methods, and techniques. This unit dealt with various perspectives on the methodology of teaching language and presents the ESA model as an appropriate tool. The basic structure of Engage - Study - Activate need not be followed stringently, but the principles remain the same regardless of where they are placed in the lesson plan. Various activities appropriate for each stage were provided as well as tips on how to deal with mistakes and errors.
