We require an English as a Foreign Language Instructor to join our team. By providing training in a range of technical areas including Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, Industrial Trades, Business Studies and Information Technology, CNA-Q brings the State closer to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Reporting to the Academic Manager, Foundation Program, the English as a Foreign Language Instructor will work in a team-based environment to teach classes and develop classroom materials. The Instructor may also participate in the design of appropriate classroom curriculum for students with differing levels of English proficiency. S/he may deliver direct instruction to individuals and small groups and assign work which students complete on their own. The instructors will be responsible for evaluating and assessing students' performance and for making appropriate course changes.
The English as a Foreign Language Instructor will also keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree in Applied Linguistics or TESOL/TEFL/TESL from a recognized institution, in addition to teaching experience and a thorough knowledge of Teaching English as a Foreign Language, is required. International experience teaching English for Specific Academic Purposes would be a definite asset. Knowledge of and current examiner certification in IELTS examinations is considered an asset.
Instructor training and experience teaching at a post-secondary level are definite assets. Expertise in curriculum development is desirable. Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and expert fluency in English are required. Effective problem solving skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization are also required. Candidates must possess strong computer skills and knowledge of learning technologies.
A demonstrated commitment to working in a team and learner centered environment is also required. Intercultural competence including intercultural sensitivity and adaptability, and an ability to behave appropriately and effectively in another culture are essential. Knowledge of the CNA college system is a definite asset.
