Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
For beginners, vocabulary is much important than grammar, By reviewing this unit, I have obtained general information about teaching new language. I have been teaching and learning new languages for almost entire my life, so this part was useful from that point of view. Still I have a question about different meaning of a single vocabulary, should we tell then all of focus only on single meaning relevant to the topic of the class. This unit is equally easy and difficult at the same time. As a second language speaker of English I've learnt pronunciation and IPA from dictionaries. The most challenging and interesting part was Articulation, since I haven't studied it at university even. When it comes to teaching pronunciation of individual words, I teach IPA to all of my students alongside with the alphabet - but most teachers avoid it, which causes confusion.
