Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
Some of the questions were tricky and I tried my best to answer them correctly. I learned many things about class management and the various methods used to control the students in a classroom. I learned about authentic and non authentic materials. I learned about lesson plans, the various parts of a lesson plan, when should I make a lesson plan and why. Different types of resources were also taught in this unitAs I have previously only taught higher level primary, I have never taught phonetics so found this unit very interesting, challenging and informative at the same time. I feel like the 'text language' that is common with our teenagers is like phonetic language, you really have to sound out the words as you read. I found it much easier to sound the words out loud so realise this would be a valuable teaching point.
