Very informative chapter on the different types of certification available for learners of English to acquire. I also very much appreciated the different types of tests and their uses depending on the timeframe of the course. While I agree that progress is best measured on a daily basis, there needs to be an objective measure that can show external parties that progress (or lack thereof) is being made in the classroom via written tests.As a non-native English speaker I was unfamiliar with some of the content in this section. However, I have come to have a greater understanding of the grammar involved and I feel more confident understanding the differences between prepositions, adverbs, conjunctions, etc. I understand more parts of the English language at this point now that I am studying for my certification and I did not have as much difficulty as I feared I would.
