Details: REAL English Batam is a sister school to Real English in Yogyakarta. It was established several years ago but we now wish to expand our school, especially with children's classes and corporate classes. We are now seeking suitably qualified teachers to join our school on a one year renewable contract. Real Batam offers a wide range of courses, including General English, Business English, Children's courses (5 to 10 years of age), Teens classes, TOEFL Preparation, IELTS Preparation, Conversation, Corporate Training and one-to-one tutoring. Our school is only two years old and is fully equipped, and with a wide range of supplementary material.

Real Batam is located in Sukajadi, the most luxurious and secure housing complex on Batam Island and our teacher housing is nearby at the Anggrek Mas complex. Both are a 15 minute ride from malls and supermarkets, restaurants and bars. Batam is best known for its proximity to Singapore which is only an hour away by ferry. Medan and other major cities in Sumatra are just a short flight away, plus there are the numerous islands in the Straits of Malacca to explore.

Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including round-trip airfare, housing, 20 days paid holiday, overtime compensation, work permit/visa, and medical insurance. The salary is more than enough to live well and travel during holidays in Indonesia. We also offer free teacher accommodation. Due to Indonesian Immigration regulations, we can only accept passport holders of the following countries: USA, Australia, Britain, Canada, and New Zealand. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

The unit introduces the CTEYL (Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners), outlining aims of the course, frequent terminology and their acronyms, a definition of a young learner and insight into the prospects and pay of an EFL teacher. I learnt many new acronyms that I wasn’t previously aware of. The unit was quite short, but it covered the essential information needed to feel prepared for the next unit.Obviously, as a non-native speaker English grammar can be depressing and or challenging to use more so to teach. This unit has therefore enhanced my understanding of the rules of basic grammar. In my encounter with non-speakers in Japan, it is always a difficulty to communicate these basic rules to them, but with this unit I am now better equipped to explain how the rules work. It has generally been extremely useful.
