The forms that change when the sentence becomes a reported speech is interesting. I realized that although for native English speakers this may be an obvious and easy thing to do, but for learners of English this must be a difficult process. Form changes are always so difficult in the process of learning language even in my personal experiences, but is necessary in order to accurately communicate what one is exactly talking about.I think the use of textbooks versus natural materials will always be a debate. Different learning styles should be accounted for in the choosing of materials and a mix of the two would probably be a good way to gauge what works best for each student. When I was studying Chinese, I felt that the games and role plays were most helpful in creating confidence and fluency. The textbooks allowed me to hide a little and not speak out.
