The Teacher Librarian will provide a range of library and research services for the school and to develop the library resources and its collections. The Teacher Librarian will support the successful development of literacy and academic research skills and literature appreciation in both GSD and ESD and will provide educational and pedagogical support in collaboration with faculty subject staff and school leadership. The successful candidate is expected to foster a love of reading, both for leisure and for academic development, to support and challenge learners to seek appropriate information, to use planned methods of inquiry and research, and teach them to question the information they find and use.
What is required and what we’re looking for
• Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
• TEFL/TESOL certificate preferred.
• Experience of developing and maintaining a vibrant library environment which exposes students to a range of genres, authors, cultures, and themes as well as resources which support their curriculum topics and subjects in both print and digital formats.
• Ensure the library is a vibrant, stimulating, and multi-functional space in which students feel safe, welcomed and supported.
• The strategic vision to contribute to the long-term, continuous development of the library space as a dynamic academic learning hub for all learners.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to facilitate a dynamic, shared space for learning based on a strong understanding of the community the library serves.
• Experience of modelling effective use of information systems and learning technologies to support and enrich teaching and learning including emerging technologies.
• Experience of planning and delivering engaging lessons that teach students how to seek, critically evaluate, synthesise and present information across a range of platforms and sources
• Ability to articulate and deliver a continuum of information literacy skills and retrieval strategies for
• students to support their academic development through secondary school.
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English with a proficiency in German or a willingness to learn.
• Highly competent ICT user and experienced in research methodologies.
• A dedicated and cooperative team leader who can manage the training, monitoring, work allocation, appraisal and continuing professional development of Library staff.
