This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly team and use your TEFL training to make a real impact! Project Play is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educationalists to help shape their growing charity. Our charity is based in Northern France, and provides varied education and play sessions, 6 days a week, to some of the 250+ displaced children living in dire conditions here. For many of the children, this is the only service that they access and a vital opportunity for them to be in a safe space in which they can relax, play, escape, learn and explore.
Our objective is to support our students’ development, provide psycho-social care and help mitigate the effects of trauma through play and learning. Founded in 2018, Project Play is a growing charity that has already seen the positive effects of its service. It is an exciting time to be joining the friendly and hard-working team as we continue to consolidate and improve our work.
One key strand of improvement is bettering our education provision. We are looking for motivated and qualified English teachers to develop and employ our English curriculum. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills as an educator to improve the outcomes of these wonderful children. Also, there are many opportunities to develop your own pedagogy, teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills.
Successful applicants will work with our volunteer team spending the mornings developing the curriculum, resources and education strategy. In the afternoons, they will be working out in the field, conducting sessions which include education, play, sports and craft. They will then return to the volunteer accommodation. We are lucky enough to work alongside some other organisations in Calais and are part of a fantastic community of volunteers.
This is a voluntary role, but the charity supports volunteers with accommodation, some food and travel.
