It was great understanding the difference between receptive and productive skills. It was insightful learning about strategies for helping to minimise problems with listening and writing tasks for students, such as by pre-teaching difficult vocabulary and carefully selecting texts. Content for lessons should be of interest to the students as it can help motivate students to study well.The unit covered what students need to know about (and what teachers should determine as they select) vocabulary, grammar, and acquisition of language function. It is helpful for me to consider how I might stress formal vs spoken or informal language so that my students will be comfortable with new vocabulary, grammar, and functions not only on written form, but also conversationally.
