Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
THIS SESSION IS ALL ABOUT WHEN AND HOW TO TEACH NEW LANGUAGE, CONSIDERATIONS AND APPROACHES.
I FEEL THIS IS LESS DIDACTICAL THAN OTHER UNITS AS THE TEACHER REALLY NEEDS TO THINK ABOUT THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THE TERMS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE LEARNERS' CURRENT SKILL LEVEL AND FAMILIARITY WITH THE LANGUAGE TO DATE. THERE'S NO HARD AND FAST RULE, JUST LOTS OF OPTIONS AROUND ESA APPROACHES IN ORDER TO INSTILL THE NEW VOCAB OR STRUCTURE.In this unit we learned about the two productive skills, speaking and writing. This unit is important because being able to produce language is an essential part of being able to communicate in a given language and is thus essential to language learning. This unit reviews the different considerations teachers should have when teaching speaking and/or writing and how best to implement ideas to help teach students most effectively.
