EAL / ESOL Tutor tasks and responsibilities
1. To work closely with class teachers to support ESOL learners in their lessons in preparation
for examinations.
2. Provide both class and group lessons and individual tutoring if required.
3. For students whose first language is not English provide either one to one tutoring or in small
groups to develop their language skills.
4. Keeping track of individuals progress by reporting on formative assessments and practice.
5. Keep the Head of Learning Enrichment updated regarding the progress of students.
Person Specification
1. A Professional ESOL Teaching Qualification (for e.g. CELTA, TEFL, TESOL) or experience
teaching English to ESOL students
2. Have a passion for teaching with the ability to teach with enthusiasm and ambition to inspire
a love of learning.
3. Evidence of being a self-motivated, confident and reflective teacher of English
4. A good team player with the ability to work independently as well as within a small team.
5. Be well organised with attention to detail and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Hours:
Part-time hours to be agreed but expected to be the equivalent of 3 days.
