The School of Foreign Languages and Culture, Chongqing University, is inviting applications for full time ESL instructors to begin September 2014. Chongqing University is ranked 28th out of 2,236 university and colleges in China, and is highly ranked in the Built Environment, Engineering, Technology, and Business disciplines.
Chongqing University, in Shapingba, is the fourth largest university in China. At present, Chongqing University runs 28 colleges, plus the Graduate School, the City College of Science and Technology, the College of Continuing Education, the College of Networking Education. The University now has a total enrollment of 50,000 students, together with 5,400 faculty and staff members, among which about 2,700 are full-time teachers.
Position: ESL Instructor
Contractual: One year renewable based on performance
Hours: 14 to 16 hours per week on average
Teaching: Introductory courses on cultures of English-speaking countries and spoken English training for undergraduate students.
Salary: Competitive salary and negotiable
Allowance: Travel allowance provided each semester.
Vacation: One month paid vacation for Lunar New Year, 1 1/2 months for Summer, plus public holidays.
Housing: Free furnished two bedroom apartment provided. Ten minutes walking distance from the University.
Medical: Basic medical care provided at no cost.
Language: Chinese language provided at no cost by School of Foreign Languages and Culture
Orientation: Orientation to Chongqing and University provided.
Airline Ticket: Airline ticket reimbursed at the end of the contract.
Qualifications:
MA in linguistics, TESOL, CELTA or RSA, in culture studies and other social sciences preferred, but candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree, TEFL certification and two or three years’ teaching ESL in these fields will be considered.
