Xiaoshan is a district of the city of Hangzhou. It is a fairly affluent city, and is very clean and very modern in the centre, with a large number of shops and privately owned businesses. Despite this it has, as yet, remained relatively traditional and has managed to retain much of it's character. There are many parks, rivers and canals and it is definitely unpolluted by Chinese standards. Xiaoshan itself is quite small, although it does have a number of bars and restaurants, including a couple of ?Western-style ones, and Hangzhou, with it's university population, is a simple 30 minute bus ride away if you are looking for brighter lights. Xiaoshan isn't what you might call 'cosmopolitan', but if you are looking for other western faces you will certainly find them in Hangzhou, as well as other western comforts such as the huge new Carrefours department store, which stocks pretty much everything that you might need! If it is nature and culture that are looking for then Hangzhou has the famous West Lake and a beautiful Buddhist temple, as well as a fantastic silk market where you can buy silk at rock bottom prices and have it made up by one of the many tailors in the area. Shanghai is an easy 2 hour train ride away if you fancy a short trip on your days off, and Xiaoshan has its own airport for easy domestic flights to other cities in China. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

It outlines the different methods of teaching shows the different approaches to language teaching and outlines in brief what the student will gane from each structure the lesson outlines the important of the teachers role in motivating the students and in providing a learning environment suitable to their cultural requirements the graphs and examples given within the lesson plan made the ideals of the lesson much clearerThis unit was an introduction to and overview of teachers, learners, and their respective attributes, motivations, and proper roles in the classroom; relevant classifications of learners and their respective levels were also given. I found it useful as a reminder of what makes a good teacher and what makes a good learner. Also, it was very useful to see how the content for this course is structured, paced, and assessed.
