Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit covers the present tense, which is difficult for native speakers to relate, as it is something we do automatically. Many other countries do not have so much variety in the present tense as English, making this a challenge for ESL students to learn. Explaining each form of the present tense, where it should and shouldn't be used, and how each form changes the meaning of the sentence is an invaluable skill for a teacher. There was a very clear difference between the two lessons. The first was uninviting, even somewhat hostile, in tone and even as a viewer I felt like I would not look forward to English lessons every week if I were in that class. I was constantly checking the timer to see how much was left. The second, however, was engaging and fun even though I could not directly partake in it, and I rarely checked to see how much time was left.
