ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
- Effective communication and collaboration are essential in this role. The Academic Director works closely with the Vice Principal, other school administrators, teachers, parents, and external stakeholders to foster positive relationships and ensure a cohesive educational community. They also participate in meetings, committees, and school events to promote effective communication and collaboration.
- Plays a crucial role in providing leadership and guidance to teachers, staff, and students. They collaborate with the Vice Principal to develop and implement the school's vision, mission, and strategic goals. They also assist in managing day-to-day operations, including student discipline, staff supervision, and curriculum development.
- As an IB Coordinator, this role involves overseeing all aspects of the IB program within the secondary school. They ensure that the curriculum aligns with IB standards and guidelines, coordinate professional development opportunities for teachers, and support students in their IB studies. The Academic Director also liaises with external IB organisations and ensures compliance with IB regulations.
- This position involves providing support to students in various aspects of their academic journey. The Academic Director assists in student admissions, placement, and transition processes. They also work closely with teachers, counsellors, and parents to identify and address individual student needs, ensuring a supportive learning environment for all students.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
- Collects and analyses data related to student achievement, curriculum implementation, and program effectiveness. They use this data to inform decision-making processes, identify areas for improvement, and prepare reports for school leadership, parents, and external agencies as required.
- Collaborates with teachers to develop and enhance the curriculum to meet the needs of students. They provide guidance on instructional strategies, assessment methods, and differentiation techniques to ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences. They also monitor curriculum implementation and evaluate its effectiveness through data analysis.

- Promote excellence in teaching through the monitoring and improvement of teaching standards in school
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
- Leading academic strategy in conjunction with the Head of Schools and those staff responsible for quality assurance and assessment.
- To oversee academic monitoring and evaluation cycles, ensure the delivery of consistently high academic standards and promote a positive learning culture throughout the school.
- To monitor and evaluate academic standards in line with NAE bilingual schools and school procedures, including benchmarking against competitors.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Responsible for organising and facilitating professional development opportunities for teachers. They identify areas for growth, arrange workshops, conferences, and training sessions, and provide ongoing support to enhance teachers' pedagogical skills and knowledge of the IB program.
- Attending and actively participating in meetings (where appropriate)
- Participating in Professional Development offered by the Regional and school.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
- University educated with an Honours Degree
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification (TEFL/TESOL preferred)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Further degree of educational or leadership qualification
- Extensive experience in teaching at the secondary level, preferably with experience in the IB program.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of IB standards, practices, and assessment methods.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and their integration into teaching practices.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations. Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
- Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
- Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
