Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
In this unit, I watched the two videos demonstrating two different ways of teaching modal auxiliary verbs. In the first one, the teacher was not very effective as he did not establish rapport with the students, didn't explain the language point well, and his overall demeanour was judgmental and cold. In the second video, all these aspects were reversed which meant that the lesson was a much more of a success. In unit 7 I read about two receptive skills - Reading and Listening. I understood that we can divide the reasons for reading and listening into two groups : for a purpose and for entertainment. Also, we use a number of skills when listening or reading to get the information we need. We will use different skills if we just need to get a general idea of the text\\news or if we need to get detailed information.
