Paid Volunteer English Teachers Needed in Bhanpura, India

Date posted:2012-04-04 | Writer: Smt. Kamala Saklecha Gyan Mandir | Email: [email protected]

Our school, which is twenty years old, is situated in a village in Central India. It’s a remarkably peaceful area. The School is located about 4 kms outside the village of Bhanpura (pop. 30,000). Nearest big city is KOTA, which is about 100 kms. We have about 1025 boys and girls enrolled and a faculty of about 45. The School is run by a non-profit Foundation. At the School, we provide an apartment to teachers which has basic furniture, a refrigerator and a TV. We also provide meals and breakfast in our hostel mess. Over and above this, we give Rs 5000 per month as out of pocket expenses. Please do not convert this amount in your currency as this is not a small amount in Bhanpura. In fact, at the School, you will have no place to spend this money. This will only help you travel within India and see around. Kindly note that we do not give airfare from  your present location to the school. We are looking for people to teach communicative English to our students and also, to some extent, some of our teachers. This will require you to bring your own experience and culture into the classroom. In the process, you may be compelled to learn about the culture of the students you will be teaching. Apart from English, other subjects are also welcome. We would also prefer that the person has interest in other activities like sports, dramatics, music, elocution and debates. The school session begins on June 20, 2012 and we would like a volunteer teacher around that time to come and teach for one academic year, which ends in April 2013. We look for teachers for a minimum period of six months in the School. If it is longer it will be better but I think the Visa is available for six months. You can enquire about the Visa for working as a teacher at your nearest Indian mission. If you give me your mailing address, I can send you the School’s latest brochure and details of our website. Please apply at the e-mail address given on the job heading.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Future tense is very complex as stated in the textbook. I have many problems when communicating with my ESL students. They make all the common mistakes in the textbook listed. This unit conveniently broke down the future tenses with example sentences. I also like the activities suggested. Even for me, remembering all the tense names is tricky, but I feel much better to be able to teach future tenses. This unit covered modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. Something new I learned from this unit is the three basic types of phrasal verbs: intransitive, transitive separable, and intransitive inseparable. Phrasal verbs are a very challenging topic for students, therefore should probably best be taught through vocab. Teachers should use them naturally through uncontrolled practice and conversation.
