Red Sweater Project has a position for an EFL teacher to manage an English Immersion Program between September and December. We work with local community members in the creation of affordable, accessible and advanced educational opportunities for children in rural Tanzania. The organization currently operates in Mungere Secondary School near the town of Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania. 40 young and bright children will begin Form I classes at Mungere Secondary School in January 2013, when further teaching opportunities will come available. Our students live in a remote Maasai community, where English is rarely spoken, and primary schooling is taught in Kiswahili. Yet, Tanzanian secondary school curriculum is English-based and the language barrier can be an obstacle to learning. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In this unit I learnt about the importance of teaching proper pronunciation and phonology to the students. It's very important that we spend time focusing on perfecting this skill as it gives the students confidence to speak English when they know they are making the correct sounds. It's important for them too learn the phonetic table to help pronounce words they don't know how to pronounce properly. This unit was about testing and assessments. It described different reasoning behind testing. Such as evaluation for what is being retained in a subject, practice tests for exams, and several others. There was not a lot of material for this chapter but it was very straight to the point. The sample tests that it provided were useful in seeing what might help in the future for various types of testing.
