Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
In this unit I have learned about the receptive skills. In particular I have learned that receptive skills: listening and reading are equally important as productive skills: writing and speaking. I have also learned that we can divide the receptive skills into two categories: For a purpose, and for entertainment. After that I have found out how to teach the Receptive skills and how to choose the right materials for the class. This was a useful unit for reminding me of the way time is precisely delineated in European languages in a way it is not in Chinese. The difference between the perfect, the pluperfect or the imperfect tenses as I learned them are here named slightly differently as the simple perfect, the past perfect and the imperfect continuous. I think these are quite logical but are tricky to remember and to conjugate for foreign learners.
