A sound knowledge of English grammar is essential - teachers who cannot explain grammar in Germany will have a hard time keeping their credibility with students. For those who don't have this we do organise training times with you before you go into classes.
Student levels: Most Germans have had 3-4 years of English at school - so they usually have the basics. Typically they need work on fixing past simple, present simple, present perfect etc.. About 70% of the classes are at this level. The rest are beginners or more advanced students.
Cost of living in Germany: the schools are not in expensive areas of Germany. A teacher typically has the following costs per month:
1. Housing - Euro 350 - 450 per month - some teachers have costs under this - this will get you an apartment of ca. 40 - 50 m2.
2. Food & Basics: Euro 300 per month - this is on the very high side.
Which leaves a teacher with at least Euro 400 per month for other spending needs - if any.

We offer full time legal contract to the end of June 2012 with a guaranteed minimum weekly workload. Teachers are paid 10 € net per hour (which is 18 € with VAT), so the salary is usually between 1000 € and 1200€ . It depends on how many hours they have got. Health insurance and retirement fund is paid by us. The amount is enough to live comfortably in Italy, to pay the accomodation bills, to travel as you wish, to enjoy the Italian way of life. We provide the teacher with private accommodation near the school; the school pays the rent but the teacher must pay the bills with his/her salary. We have two types of accommodation: a flat to share with other teachers (100 € per month per person and an adjustment in spring because of the heating used in the winter months), or a single mini-flat (100 € per month for general maintenance plus the cost of the bills for water, electricity and heating), according to the availability.
The usual workload is about 20/25 hours a week and the lessons could be in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening (Monday to Friday and sometimes Saturday mornings). We usually try to concentrate them as much as possible so that when teachers come to school they work for some hours, not for just one lesson. We need our teachers to have a valid driving licence because some courses are outside our school and you need to be able to drive (in companies or other places).All teachers have free access to the teacher’s resource library, computers and free in-house teacher training package (both on-arrival and ongoing).

Working Conditions:

The first semester runs from May 2012 to October 2012.
