students are teenagers. Most students come from the more affluent section of society and are, with very few exceptions, polite and respectful. Most of them have a very heavy school schedule with lots of extra-curricular activities, so one of the challenges here is to keep some very tired students engaged. Your spoken and written English must be of a very high standard and you should be enthusiastic about teaching both adults and young people. Your teaching style should be friendly and student-orientated and your lesson plans should be innovative and stimulating. Ideally, you should have experience of teaching English at all levels, including TOEFL and IELTS preparation. Attitude, enthusiasm and a desire to challenge both yourself and your students are paramount for a CaSE teacher. Our packages are very competitive and include flight and housing allowance. It can be very cheap to live here, depending on your lifestyle, and so it is easily possible to save money. We also provide medical insurance and make all necessary working visa arrangements. There has recently been a tightening up of immigration requirements, and candidates must now be aged between 25-55. You must have a degree, a TEFL certificate and at least 5 years experience showing on your CV. Without meeting all of these requirements we will not be able to secure a work visa for you. Please do not apply if you don't meet these requirements. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. To apply, please send an email to the address given on the job heading along with your full CV, copies of your certificates (and passport for native-speaking applicants) and a cover letter. . As moving to a new country can be financially draining, you are guaranteed payment for 80 hours per week, even if your schedule is lower, for the first six months, easing the financial burden of relocating. You will have Sundays off, as well as one other day in the week, giving you plenty of time to explore this tropical island. You don’t begin teaching until midday, and many teachers take advantage of this by learning Mandarin or exploring their local area before classes start. The salary is competitive, and we supply you with a mixture of standard and custom-made textbooks catering to all levels of students, so you don’t spend all your free time lesson planning, but out and about in Taiwan. You will receive recruitment and visa support from the moment your application is accepted. You are thoroughly supported at every stage, and will be met upon arrival in Taiwan. Your Welfare Officer will be there to support you during your entire contract, but especially during those first few days when you are looking for accommodation, sorting out your bank account, and getting a mobile phone. The classes are small, with no more than 18 students and often less. With TA support for your younger students, you will have a case load of about 80% young learners and 20% adults. The management is a mixture of Western and Taiwanese, depending on your school, but they all work to the same high standard. With positions starting most months, we are able to go out there at a time that’s suitable for you. The visa process is fast and straightforward, so you can either be in Taiwan within a few weeks of applying, or plan well in advance. We don’t require teaching experience beyond your TEFL course, or any knowledge of Mandarin, just the desire to teach, and a genuine interest in Taiwan. We offer renewable contracts upon mutual consent. Our schools are passionate about teacher development, and provide a Teacher Development Scheme to train the future Directors of Studies for Shane schools. You will be able to attend workshops throughout the year, and have regular appraisals. You will also have the opportunity to work in different areas such as Science through English, phonics, reading classes, and even golf camps. Teaching abroad is an experience that will make you more independent, culturally aware, and empathetic. You will gain skills valuable in any workplace, as well a lifetime of stories. Qualifications: * Full Degree * 120 hour TEFL, CELTA or TESOL * No experience required * No knowledge of Mandarin required * Enthusiasm for working with children. Salary and Benefits * Some help with initial costs * Welfare support upon arrival and throughout contract * Accommodation support * Guaranteed pay for 80 hours per month for first 6 months * 5 day week, 12 month contract * 1 week Young Learner focused training, and additional training throughout the contract including a Teacher Development Scheme * Flight reimbursed * Access to the excellent Taiwan National Health Insurance scheme * High potential to save To apply, contact us at the e-mail address given on the job heading. orth-West of Ibague, in the rolling hills of the coffee growing region. Including the surrounding towns, there is a population of around 1,000,000 and the city is quite modern. The climate is also very comfortable, more tropical with a slightly cooler daytime average temperature of 23. Although Colombia does still have some political and economic problems, safety has improved dramatically in recent years and is no more a concern than it would be in any large North American city. The people are very sociable and both these cities are vibrant with activity and nightlife. The classrooms, equipment and ideas are all modern and classes are very dynamic for both the student and teacher. Please note: There are positions available in Ibague and Pereira. Although you may be required to teach various different levels and age groups, we are specifically looking for teachers who are comfortable teaching young children. We offer: -A competitive salary based on 10,000 Colombian Pesos per hour of class. -Apartment rental supplement of $500,000 Colombian Pesos per month paid by Native Tongue. -A written contract which meets all local standards and practices. -Full assistance in obtaining a work-visa, paid for by the school. All foreign teachers at Native Tongue require a work-visa. For your own security please do not accept positions at other schools without a visa. It is illegal and has serious consequences in Colombia. -Medical insurance (after 30 days) arranged for and paid in part by the school. The policy has broad coverage including emergency and regular care as well as drug and dental. -Full academic support including the direction and materials needed to teach your classes. -Possible contract renewals including other school locations and management positions. We require: -A native level English speaker willing to sign up to an 11 month contract. -Experience in teaching English, preferably EFL overseas. -An English teaching certificate is a must* (TESOL, TEFL etc.). No degree is required. -Availability of a minimum 28 hours per week of in-class teaching at various times from 7:00am - 9:00pm Tuesday through Friday and Saturday 8:00am - 5:00pm. The school is closed on Sundays. You may be required to work “split-shifts”, for example mornings and evenings. -One to teach classes of all levels and ages. The majority of students are young adults and class sizes are typically up to 15 (occasionally special groups are larger). -A professional attitude. Although teaching overseas is all about the experience of travelling and being immersed into new cultures, Native Tongue abides by its contracts and expects teachers to do the same. Note: The cost of living in Ibague or Pereira is relatively low, even compared to Bogota. Our salary is very competitive and sufficient to live comfortably including regular eating-out and entertainment, however one shouldn’t expect to leave with savings or pay previous debts. To be considered for a position: Send the following to the email address given on the job heading: a cover letter and complete resume including a telephone number, an e-mail address and your photo. DO NOT attach certificates, diplomas or letters of reference (these may be requested at a later time). Your e-mail will be reviewed ONLY if you follow these instructions. Please be prepared to demonstrate your English by phone. If English is not your first language please do not apply. If you are not serious about accepting this position, or are not available when required please do not apply at this time. If you qualify you will be contacted, at which time we will answer any questions you may have. Due to the volume of e-mails received, not all applicants will be contacted, but please watch for future job postings and re-apply. Shawn Miranda, Canadian Operations, Native Tongue,

ught on site and the remainder in nearby schools and companies. Split days are kept to a minimum. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching effectively as well as an openness to try new classroom activities. We conduct observations and teacher development sessions, and our staff cooperate to spread best practice. Liberec is a small city with a population of 100,000, and is 100km north of Prague. It lies in a valley between two mountain ranges, and is a winter sports destination. Liberec has a university and thus a large student population. Our school is located near the historical centre of the city, in relatively newly refurbished, purposely designed premises. The school was founded in 1995 and is owned and run by teachers, for teachers and students. We give new teachers help in finding suitable accommodation and with negotiating Czech officials. We also give new teachers an introduction to specific issues concerning teaching English to Czech students. Salary and rewards Teachers can either work as employees, or under their own business licence. The majority of teachers work under their own business licence (which the school assists teachers in attaining), and invoice between 20K and 25K Czech Crowns per month. This affords teachers a comfortable standard of living. Teachers may also work as employees, with paid holidays etc, in which case their gross monthly salary is approx. 14K Czech Crowns. Teachers are given assistance with all aspects of legalization and settling. However we do not pay travel costs to the Czech Republic. Teachers are also given free Czech lessons. Some of our native speakers have now settled in Czech and pay mortgages etc. out of their salary. Monthly rent can vary from 4 000,-Kc for shared accommodation (which is currently available with one of our existing teachers) to 7 500,-Kc for a single occupancy flat. Requirements The ideal candidate will hold a PGCE or CELTA/TEFL /TESOL with a Young Learners extension, will have two or more years experience teaching small classes of young learners (from age 6 – 18), and be eager to develop their skills. However, above all they must have the skills, strength of personality and sensitivity to gain and hold the attention of young learners and motivate and engage teenagers.
