re dedicated and collegial professionals, with their students as their first interest. All teachers at the ALC should possess at least a Bachelor's degree and should be certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL), from a face-to-face certification course of at least 120 contact hours, including a practice teaching component and reflective feedback. Native-speaking teachers from other countries should have a keen interest in living in Morocco, some knowledge of Moroccan culture, and should articulate their interest in living in Morocco in their cover letter (see below). Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate emotional intelligence, as well as an ability to thrive in an international setting and invest more than one year teaching at ALC. Full-time teachers at ALC usually have 18-22 contact hours per week during our main terms, teaching students of all ages, including young learners. Work is mainly English teaching in the classroom, but may include facilitating activities, serving as a program coordinator, or assisting with other administrative projects. Most teaching takes place on weekday afternoons, evenings and on weekends. Teachers new to Morocco are asked to arrive in advance of the term with time to find housing and participate in orientation and training. All new teachers are required to attend the orientation program prior to their first term teaching. Temporary housing is provided upon arrival, and new teachers are also mentored throughout their first term. Please note that by Moroccan law we are unable to employ teachers who are 60 years or above in age. Salary and Benefits Full-time salaries offered by the ALC Rabat allow teachers to live comfortably in Rabat and are commensurate with experience. Salaries are in Moroccan dirhams, but foreign nationals are generally allowed to send up to 100% of their earnings to a foreign bank account in their name, upon receipt of their government work contract (actual terms are determined by each bank). In addition to the basic salary, all teachers are offered medical insurance for a modest fee, which covers 80% of most medical, dental and eye expenses, as well as medications. Other benefits include paid sick time (full-time teachers receive 30 hours of sick pay per year), vacation pay, and free ongoing instruction in Moroccan Dialect, Standard Arabic, or French. Foreign nationals are offered modest housing and travel allowances to help offset expenses. Support for professional development is provided in the form of mentoring for new teachers, free training, regular workshops, a free trip to the annual All-ALC TEFL Conference, and ability to apply for sponsorship to attend the IATEFL Annual Conference in the UK. Finally, free internet/e-mail access and a discount at the ALC Rabat bookstore are provided. How to Apply A job application to ALC Rabat should be submitted to Michael McMillan, director, at the email address given on the job heading, and should include the following (minimum): 1) a CV / resume in PDF format; 2) a scanned JPEG or PDF copy of the name/photo page of your passport; 3) a carefully composed letter in PDF format telling us about yourself, including why you would like to teach at the ALC and live in Morocco; 4) letters of reference in PDF format (university and/or job references, including your last job; 5) a scanned JPEG or PDF copy of your university diploma(s) and TESOL/TEFL certificate. (It is not necessary to include copies of Certificates of Attendance for workshops and seminars.) These can be submitted by email to the above address, or if candidates are local, at the ALC reception desk in the main office. Skype interviews are arranged when an in-person interview is not possible. Applicants hired locally will be asked to teach a short demonstration lesson (30-45 minutes). Recruitment normally takes place during the spring for the academic year that begins the following autumn. However, you are free to apply at any time, as there may be a need for qualified teachers at other times of the year. We regret that we are not able to respond to every inquiry, but will strive to do so for all qualified candidates. Foreign candidates should arrive with a criminal history background report certified no more than 60 days before arrival date, as well as original teaching certificate(s) and university diploma(s). University transcripts are not necessary. Americans may obtain a 90-day tourist visa on arrival, but other nationals should inquire prior to arrival. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you. Read more

With each teacher, we conclude a framework agreement that defines exactly the mutual obligations and also determines the amount of remuneration. This consists of a fixed component, which is added to the variable bonuses for the qualification, the length of the work experience, the size of the job, and other criteria that will take you with the appropriate methodology when setting up the contract. We do provide airport pick-up, help finding an affordable place to live and orientation training. Most teachers earn approximately $5 per hour. While this may seem low, minimum wage in Peru is approximately $1.25 per hour. So our teachers can live just fine on their wages. We ask for a minimum three month commitment, with a preference for a six month commitment. TO APPLY, please send your 1 to 2 page résumé to the email address given on the job heading. Writer: Instituto Estelar Bilingue | Email: [email protected]
ment, C2 level of English (native speaker), minimum Bachelor's degree, and TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate required. Instituto Estelar is a bit different from other language institutes. Rather than hiring hourly employees who live independently and come to work at various times, we are building a community of teachers and staff who are committed to the Estelar lifestyle of teaching, learning, and living cooperatively. We have a residence where our teachers live, work, socialize, and relax. We have a school where we teach classes to both adults and kids. We host many events and activities in the community for free. We volunteer as part of an organization called Club A that helps kids in an underserved neighborhood in our city. As a group, we have a down-to-earth, hippie-traveler vibe, but we also have a strong work ethic. We take pride in our accomplishments as we see our students progress in their language learning, and we know that we are helping students gain new opportunities in life as they advance in English. We also enjoy seeing students learn and grow, both in and out of the classroom. We strive to find ways to positively impact our community and to be a force for developing personal potential. The compensation plan includes housing in the Estelar residence, all utilities and wifi, a salary, health insurance, vacation pay, assistance in getting a work visa, and a bonus pay in December and at the end of the teacher’s time with us. We also offer discounts on Spanish lessons and classes, and we organize excursions for discounted prices. We provide a lot of support to new teachers, including training and guidance from the director and mentor teachers. There is a curriculum to follow that includes a series of books, and we have lots of teaching materials available at the institute. In an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and dedication to excellence, our teachers can hone their craft and become educational leaders. We encourage a healthy work-life balance, and teachers work 24 hours per week teaching English, leading language activities for the community, and doing special projects. The workweek is Tuesday afternoon through Saturday evening, and everyone gets Sundays and Mondays off. Teachers often travel together to nearby beaches, waterfalls, and national parks…or they spend their days off by the pool in the teacher residence. TO APPLY: We have several immediate openings. Please only apply if you meet the criteria. Send your resume, and copy of university degree and TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate to our English director, Bruno, at the address given on the job heading. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ETHIOPIA AND ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopian people are generous, and the country is beautiful and diverse and provides a lot of opportunity for nature lovers, but it must be remembered that the country is a developing one. Progress is slow, and you will not find all the conveniences you might find in western countries. Religion and an intense pride in their country's past resonate loudly within most Ethiopians. For Ethiopians, their land has stood out from all African nations and proved itself to be a unique world of its own. Home to its various indigenous cultures, languages (more than 83), script, calendar, the system of time, food, flora, fauna, and history. Ethiopia is the only African country to fight off colonization successfully. Rock hewn churches, 17th-century castles, and island monasteries are just a few of the more well-known tourist attractions. Addis Ababa is relatively safe with crime levels low, although pickpockets are common in crowded areas. Transportation around the city is by local mini bus (costs between 1.25 Ethiopian Birr and 3.60 Ethiopian Birr) or contract taxi (price negotiated before the trip and depending on distance). Both traditional and western food is available at the numerous restaurants and cafes. Visa process: If both parties agree to the terms of the contract, the school sends a copy of your passport and a letter to your nearest Ethiopian Embassy (you may have to go to an embassy in your country of citizenship). Next, you'll send your passport to the embassy and pay for the working visa. It shouldn't be expensive but varies depending on the country. It should take around two business days to process. Once you get here, the school will take your passport to the ministry of immigration and change the visa into a working permit. You'll have your ID and working permit -- the latter stays with the school. TO APPLY: Contact us via email at the address given on the job heading. We look forward to speaking with you more shortly.
