Hostel

Located just a brief stroll from our Training Center, the hostel offer private rooms. Each room comes with access to a communal kitchen and dining area, perfect for mingling with fellow guests, catching up on cable television, or simply unwinding with a cup of coffee, all while enjoying complimentary WIFI.

Prices range from 5,000 pesos to 9,000 pesos for four weeks, depending on the accommodation type. For extended stays, please inquire about rates.

Hotel: Three Stars

Conveniently situated within walking distance, the Three-star hotel boast exceptional amenities in both single and double rooms. Guests can enjoy access to a communal kitchen and dining area, lounge living room, room cleaning, and complimentary Wi-Fi in both rooms and public areas. The hotel provides a tranquil environment, ensuring a relaxing ambiance amidst the bustling city. The hotel is centrally located, offering easy access to the downtown historic area, to the globally recognized Colonia Americana (that was named the "coolest neighborhood in the world to visit" by Time Out magazine) and many other attraction sites.

Furnished Apartments

Choose from a selection of furnished apartments, ranging from good to best available options. These modern one or two-bedroom apartments typically range from U.S. $550 to $1500 per month. Some feature additional amenities such as swimming pools, air conditioning, and onsite dining facilities. Please note, we do not facilitate roommate arrangements for apartments.

Homestay Experience: Immerse Yourself in Mexican Culture

Indulge in the warm embrace of a traditional Mexican family during your stay! For $400 USD per four weeks, you'll enjoy three daily meals and the comfort of a private bedroom.

This exceptional housing opportunity offers the chance to reside with one of our carefully selected host families, who have graciously welcomed our trainees for many years. Each family undergoes meticulous screening to ensure suitability for our trainees. Immerse yourself in the heart of Mexican culture, hone your Spanish language skills, and forge lasting friendships.

While Guadalajara boasts both residential and commercial districts, our privileged location in the Downtown Historic Area means host homes are not within walking distance. However, rest assured that all host families reside in safe, centrally located neighborhoods, approximately a 40-minute bus ride from our school. On the first day of classes, a member of your host family will accompany you to school and ensure a smooth daily commute.

Our homestay program offers:
  • Three daily meals, which also include a packed lunch for school.
  • Accommodation starts one day before the course begins and extends until one day after it ends. Additional nights are charged at $20 USD each, while extra weeks cost $100 USD per week.
  • Laundry facilities are available for students' personal use.

  • What are the admission requirements for the course?

    Applicants must: Be aged 21 or over. (18 to 20 year olds can be considered based on an admission interview)
    Have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables the trainee to undertake the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels.
    All candidates whose first language is not English must be interviewed and take a language awareness test.
    Have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers, to successfully complete the written assignments and perform in the observed teaching practices.
    Have a positive attitude towards team work and experiential learning activities. This includes acknowledging the relevance of these in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and willingness to participate in all course dynamics.
    Have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into university.
    Please note that although it is not compulsory for applicants to possess a university degree to enroll in our program, many foreign countries prefer college/university degrees from their EFL teachers. Candidates to our TEFL program are usually college/university graduates.

  • What if I already have accommodation?

  • Do I need a special visa to take the course?

    If traveling from the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Western Europe, you only need the standard tourist visa issued upon entry to Mexico.
    A 30 day visa gives you enough time to complete the course, a 60, 90 or 180 day visa can be requested instead of the 30 day.
    To obtain either one, you will only need your passport. If in doubt please contact the nearest Mexican consulate.


  • What is the course schedule?

    1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch

    3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Class observation or teaching practice


  • Does the course include any teaching practice?

    Yes. Teaching practice will take place nearly every afternoon. You will have 10 teaching classes, two conversation classes, 1 on 1 assessment classes and the opportunity to observe real EFL teachers at least 6 classes, spread as evenly as possible over the four weeks of the course.
    It is important to mention that your practices will not be done with volunteers or teaching your peers in class, but real EFL students.

    Everything that you may need for the course and the teaching practices will be provided to you. We also have a large EFL selection of books, teaching aids and materials available for our trainees to use.
    Should you feel in need to buy teaching materials, you can easily find them in Mexico.


  • Do you provide job placement assistance?

    Yes. The Guadalajara training center is able to guarantee graduates paid teaching positions practically in all major cities around the world. All graduates receive individual counseling and assistance with finding a teaching job. Please note that this guarantee applies to graduates of the Guadalajara course only.
    As the Guadalajara training center is part of an international organization it has contact with many schools worldwide and can often place graduates within its own network of language schools.
    The staff in Guadalajara will help with all aspects of job seeking from CV/resume construction and interview techniques to arranging job interviews.


  • Do I need any teaching experience?

    No. the Guadalajara TEFL Certificate course includes all the teaching practice you may need to become an effective TEFL teacher, we include 10 hours of real EFL teaching experience, and more available upon request.


  • Will I be able to find work at the end of your course?

    Yes, our trainees are usually placed within two weeks after the completion of their course; however, very often they are employed by the time the course finishes.
    Before graduation we conduct job workshops to prepare you for your job search. The job guidance is a service we offer to our graduates for a lifetime.


  • What documentation should I prepare for job hunting post-course completion?

    Although not mandatory for all employers, it's advisable to have your degree, academic transcripts, birth certificate, and any pertinent certifications. Copies typically suffice in most instances. It's recommended to keep access to the originals readily available to avoid the need to retrieve them from home. Upon fulfilling the course requirements, you will be issued the original TEFL certificate.


  • How should I dress?

    Most of our students prefer to dress casually during the day and dress professionally for teaching practices in the late afternoon.
    During morning sessions and lesson preparation sessions, you are welcome to dress casually, feel free to wear what makes you more comfortable You are requested to dress professionally for your teaching practices in the afternoon (Sandals, shorts, torn items, T-shirts, low collar in blouses, mini skirts, jeans, tennis shoes or sneakers are not acceptable.).
    This is a standard in the world of teaching which you are invited to follow during your teaching practices, at job interviews and as you teach in your newly acquired profession.
