This unit provided insight into three aspects of teaching a new language: vocabulary, grammar structure, and functions. It explained what was necessary for students to understand about each aspect and offered different variations of the ESA approach to teach each aspect. It was helpful to contrast each of these aspects and think through lesson plans and approaches to teaching each.I really found this lesson to be totally inconsequential because I would never teach my students the names of these different types of sounds and words that mean different types of sounds. It would not only be a waste of time but it would also confuse them. Additionally, this lesson was so confusing that I doubt if I actually learned anything. It was more annoying than anything else.
