A Placement Test may be given to new students at the beginning of the course to help place the students into the correct level. A Diagnostic Test may be given to students to see what they know and what they do not know. Progress Tests may be given periodically to students to test what they have remembered and what not. Practice Tests are always external exams, such as TOEFL and IELTS.The distinction between accuracy and fluency is a good one, and it's nice to now be able to describe it in the proper terms. I might be generally biased towards fluency, though I also realize how nice and atmosphere-changing it can be to be accurate as well -- and, if communication of simple ideas is the sole goal, grunting, gestures, and an online dictionary generally suffice anyway.
