While modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice can be challenging for student to understand, they are an important step in refining the English language. Students utilize modal auxiliary verbs to express obligation, permission, possibility, ability and advice. By teaching passive voice, teachers expand the students knowledge of more complex syntax and ways of communicating in English.At first, I thought IPA will be hard for me to understand, as I have never learned it before. Learning the mouth diagram with the IPA made it easier to understand. I think it also depends upon the individuals accent when pronouncing. Intonation is also important as it carries the message of the spoken sentence. I think this made me realize that clarity is more important than accuracy.
