EFL Sample Lesson - Engage Phase - Necessities

This video is a sample EFL lesson in a real-life classroom setting abroad. The video showcases the engage phase of the lesson. This phase is aimed at getting the students talking and thinking in English before the actual study phase of the lesson. This lesson focuses on the modal verbs 'have to' and 'can'.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

The unit provided me with a a summary of the conditional phrases as well as the somewhat complex grammar of reporting speech. This was useful as I never never had to teach the fourth conditional before and never even realised the complicated grammar behind reporting speech even existed. I now have a good understanding of both to which I am able to anchor future lesson plans.I liked this unit because it explained to me all of the conditional sentences and the use of reported speech. Sometimes these types of sentences lend themselves to confusion, so this unit It helped me refresh in my mind the different types of these sentences. To understand this is very important to use correctly english, so also the teacher should take a time to teach these.
