Full-time TEFL Job in Taiwan

Date posted:2016-01-19 | Writer: Chiba Language School | Email: [email protected]

Chiba Language School is currently recruiting for a full-time EFL Teacher for August 2016 employment. First-time teachers welcomed! The school is located in Pingtung City, just outside of Kaohsiung, which is the second largest city in Taiwan. Being in the south, Pingtung offers beautiful tropical weather and experiences warmer year round temperatures than the north. The city is home to over 200,000 people and offers a variety of things to do with easy access to travel the entire country.

Chiba has been around for over 20 years and is a dual-language school, teaching kindergarten and elementary students both English and Japanese. The kindergarteners range from 2 years old to 7 years old and the elementary students are from grades 1 to 6. Here at Chiba, we value a strong education and encourage the students in their learning. Our teachers are expected to present the material in a fun and interactive way, so that the students are involved with and engaged in each lesson.

This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday-Friday, with your weekends free. The teacher will be teaching both kindergarten and elementary classes. We are looking for someone with a positive and outgoing personality who is excited to work with kids! Teaching experience is not required (we will provide the new teacher with training) all you need is a bachelor's degree, your TEFL training and a sense of adventure. Moving to and living in a foreign country can be a daunting idea, but we will guide you through the transition and make you feel right at home.

SALARY AND BENFITS:Monthly salary and a large bonus upon completion of a one year contract.

Paid holidays throughout the entire year and the whole week off for Chinese New Year.

Free accommodation in a fully furnished apartment within walking distance from the school.

Work permit, ARC, and National Health Insurance are all provided.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was introducing the parts of speech and was about separating and identifying the specific grammar terms for sentence structure. This unit covered breaking up a simple sentence into identifiable parts of speech and then outlining what determines the grammar rules for the words. This is the grammar foundation for how English sentences are structured to make it graspable for students. The last grammar unit covers modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. In my opinion this unit is probably hard for learners, that are not fluid in English, because with phrasal verbs an additional particle can change the meaning of the sentence completely. I also think that it is difficult for learners, whose native language doesn't use the passive voice at all, to understand the use for it.
