Aotearoa Career and Management Institute (ACMI) is an NZQA approved tertiary education provider based in central Auckland. We are looking for an outstanding candidate to teach English as a Second Language. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic and student service standards at ACMI. The role would be ideal for someone with a strong General English and IELTS training preparation background.
THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi: The ability to recognise and support Maori needs in a culturally appropriate manner.
Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Self-Management: The ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and manage a high workload.
Teamwork: The proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and to build and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships both internally and externally.
Innovation: The demonstrated ability to evaluate and assess work patterns and situations in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Technical skills: Sound workplace computing and IT skills.
Key Skill: Preparation and teaching of General English and IELTS Preparation.
Knowledge on IELTS and PTE preparation would be an advantage.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
The essential qualifications, skills and attributes needed are:
CELTA, TESOL or equivalent, DELTA preferred
Bachelor's degree
Native speaker competence
Experience of curriculum development
A reflective approach to teaching and professional development
An ability to work autonomously within curriculum guidelines
A desire to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
LOCATION:
We are thrilled to announce that Aotearoa Career and Management Institute (ACMI) has moved to our stunning brand new facility on the University of Auckland campus at Level 13, 67 Symonds Street. We have refurbished the top floor of this building with purpose-built, state-of-the-art English Language and Tourism and Travel classrooms as well as a spacious student cafeteria, lounge, library, computer suite and common room. Even the bathrooms are completely new.
All our students, staff and visitors are enjoying the spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of Auckland, from the rainforest-clad slopes of the Waitakere ranges to the shining flat waters of the Waitemata harbour with its iconic harbour bridge and sailing boats, as well as the city skyline featuring the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, the extinct volcanic cones which are such a feature of Auckland and glimpses of parks, trees and historic buildings throughout the city.
There’s a 400 capacity car-park in the bottom floors of the building. Access to public transport is excellent with bus stops servicing all parts of Auckland and connecting to the major train stations within three minutes walk of the front door.
