We are a medium-sized language school in Kiel, northern Germany, about 1 hour from Hamburg. This unit showed me both sides to using a coursebook in my lessons. It thoroughly explained the pros to using one and how it can further students learning as well as show me what I need to do to get the best out of a coursebook. It also reminded me that sometimes activities in coursebooks are not always suitable for students and that while I should make use of a coursebook, I should also be critical of it.The unit is very interesting. It was good to personally identify most of the mistakes the teacher was making in the first video before I saw the second one. I learnt a great deal from the second video, though I felt the teacher could have shown a little more energy to get all the people more involved. The use of pair work in the second video proved much more effective than individual activity in the first.
