This is a useful little bag of tricks. I can already see the value of many of these techniques in my limited language teaching experience thus far. Most useful to me here are the guidelines for building rapport and eliciting effective participation. I have found reticence to participate to be quite common especially in classes of students with mixed proficiency. The skills described here are very necessary. This lesson gave me a great perspective of a real life situation inside of a classroom. I really got a better understanding of how to act and react to certain situations. I learned the power in the voice you use as a teacher and the body language you use. It was very helpful to see how to act and how not to act in the classroom. I have a deeper understanding of how a classroom will be run after this lesson.
